Have you ever caught sight of yourself in a mirror and thought, "Is that what I look like?". Well, if you're like me, and I know I am, you have. It happened the other day as my first baby was trying on outfits for senior pictures. I saw myself in the mirror and thought, "That's what I look like, huh." It's quite off putting. I have had to look at my own face for putting on makeup but a deep look in the mirror reminds me that I'm bigger than I should be. Also, not as youthful as I was twenty years ago.
Here's where I hear you say, Mel, no one looks now what they looked like twenty years ago and to that I say, "have you seen my mom?" If you haven't, then you aren't a close friend or relative and maybe this blog is actually popular-ish. Thank you. I guess that means I'll have to write more. I'm getting to the age where I have to ask myself some serious questions like "Just how much food are you willing to not eat to look better?"
I ask you dear reader; is ten pounds worth no more sweets? Is less pasta worth ten more? Of course not! Still...I did use to look much better than this and I don't want to end up looking like Santa's wife in twenty more years. So then, what must I do? Probably just write more, realistically, but saying no to some food wouldn't hurt. Especially now as Thanksgiving looms like a dark and delicious cloud over the horizon. Excuse me, I think I see a me in the mirror.

You're right... your mom does look just like she did 20 years ago, but she was also the mother of an adult at that point. By taking care of yourself (and your husband) you can continue to look good, or even better 20 years from now!
